语法点 Grammar Points


【语法点 1】 又 + A(adj.) + 又 + B(adj.)

The construction "又 A 又 B" indicates that two states or situations are occurring at the same time. A and B can be adjectives.
Zài zhōngguó běifāng, dōngtiān yòu zhǎng yòu lěng.
在中国北方，冬天又长又冷。
In Northern China, the winter is long and cold.
Lánqiú bǐsài hòu, wǒ yòu rè yòu kě.
篮球比赛后，我又热又渴。
I was hot and thirsty after the basketball game.
Wǒ kànzhe tā, yòu gāoxìng yòu dānxīn.
我看着她，又高兴又担心。
I looked at her, pleased and worried.
Tā yòu gāo yòu zhuàng.
他又高又壮。
He is tall and strong.

【语法点 2】 Verb1 + 着 + ... + Verb2

"V1着……V2" is the Serial Verbal Construction (连动结构). It indicates that the 2nd action takes place during the time of the 1st action. Verb 1 can be the means or manner, and Verb 2 is often the purpose of Verb 1.
Nǐ yīnggāi shìzhe zǎodiǎn qǐchuáng.
你应该试着早点起床。
You should try to get up earlier.
Tā dàizhe wǒ de qián líkāi le.
他带着我的钱离开了。
He left with my money.
Tāmen zài děngzhe mǎi diànyǐng piào.
他们在等着买电影票。
They are waiting to buy movie tickets.
“Zhēn kāixīn ya!” Tā xiàozhe shuō.
“真开心呀！” 她笑着说。
"What fun!" she said with a smile.
