破阵子

sìshí niánlái jiā guó,
四十年来家国，
sānqiān lǐ dì shānhé.
三千里地山河。
fèng gé lóng lóu lián xiāohàn,
凤阁龙楼连霄汉，
yùshù qióng zhī zuò yān luó,
玉树琼枝作烟萝，
jǐ céng shí gāngē?
几曾识干戈?
yīdàn guī wèi chén lǔ,
一旦归为臣虏，
shěn yāo pān bìn xiāomó.
沈腰潘鬓消磨。
zuì shì cānghuáng cí miào rì,
最是仓皇辞庙日，
jiào fāng yóu zòu biélí gē,
教坊犹奏别离歌，
chuí lèi duì gōng'é.
垂泪对宫娥。

For forty years it had been my country, my home,
Three thousand miles of mountains and rivers.
Phoenix pavilions and dragon towers reached the heaven,
The forest of jade trees was thick and misty.
When did it ever have a war.
All of sudden a captive slave,
Waist thinner, sideburns whiter, I am a worn out man.
What I can not forget is the day I bid a hasty farewell to the ancestor temple,
Imperial musicians were still playing parting songs,
I shed tears when facing the palace maids.
