dié liàn huā
huā tuì cán hóng qīng xìng xiǎo.
yàn zǐ fēi shí,
lǜ shuǐ rénjiā rào.
zhī shàng liǔ mián chuī yòu shǎo,
tiānyá hé chù wú fāng cǎo.
qiáng lǐ qiūqiān qiáng wài dào.
qiáng wài xíng rén,
qiáng lǐ jiārén xiào.
xiào jiàn bù wén shēng jiàn qiāo,
duōqíng què bèi wúqíng nǎo.
To The Tune of Die Lian Hua (Butterfly Loving Flowers)
Su Dongpo (1037-1101 AD)
Flowers falling, red fading, green apricots are still small,
Swallows are flying,
Around the houses is clear water meandering.
In the breeze fewer and fewer willow catkins remaining,
But worry not, there are green grass in every corner of the world.
A swing in the wall, and an alley outside.
Outside the wall people passing by,
Inside the wall fair lady on the swing laughing.
The laughter is fading and the voice is gradually quiet down,
The fascinated is sorrowed by the fascinating.
