Cen Shen (岑参, about 715-770 AD) was a poet of Tang Dynasty, one of the four great frontier poets. He was born to a bureaucratic family. For about ten years he himself served twice in the northwest frontier territories of the Tang Empire, first under the famous general Gao Xianzhi (高仙芝) then under general Feng Changqing (封常清). 403 of his poems survived. More than 70 of them are frontier poems. 7 of his poems were selected in the anthology Three Hundred Tang Poems.
